The Corrigan School of Irish Dancing was founded by the director, Nora Corrigan on September 15th 2004.
On her first day of teaching, Nora Corrigan started out with 17 students. She now teaches 80 students weekly in London and in Goderich. Over the years the school has and is continuing to grow.
The students of the Corrigan School of Irish Dancing have performed at the John Labatt Center at half time for the Harlem Globe Trotters, have been televised for The New PL’s St. Patrick’s Day show and have performed yearly at the Celtic Festival in Goderich. Corrigan School dancers have won several medals in local competitions and have competed internationally.
The Corrigan School has just recently opened a new studio at 1674 Hyde Park Road, Suite 203 in north London. The new location has a convenient area where students can change before and after class, a large group dance floor and a separate private dance floor.
Classes for pre-beginners (dancers between the ages of 3-5) run for 30 minutes once a week. Beginner classes include students between the age of 6 and 10 and are for 60 minutes once a week. Novice and Open dancers are recommended to attend two 90 minute classes each week. Prelims and Championship dancers are recommend to have 120 minutes classes two to three time a week. Also, dancers are required to wear dance attire for classes (skirt, shorts, t-shirts, etc.). For more information on classes see the Class page.
Irish Dancing gives dancers the opportunity to travel, meet new friends, perform for audiences and compete in as many competitions as they wish. There are 6 levels in Irish Dancing: Beginners, Advanced Beginners, Novice, Prize Winners, Preliminary Championships and Championships.
There are certain requirements that have to be met in order to move up levels.
